After weeks of extreme heat, 23 players enjoyed mild temperatures and balanced play (at least for the first half). The White team spent nearly all of the first half on the attack, with the Dark defense holding tight and clearing ball after ball. Keeper Norm recording more than two dozen saves (including one with his glasses). But it was the Dark side scoring first, with Dan taking advantage of a rare scoring opportunity to knock one passed Mike P. in goal. John G. had the equalizer, evening the score at 1-1 with some outstanding footwork ... and ending Norm's flirtation with a clean sheet.
The White team continued to press their advantage in the second half, with Jody P. making a near-perfect cross into the near-perfect run by Brint C., who headed with authority into the upper right-hand corner. Mike P. followed suit, heading in not one but two corners, as the wheels fell off for the Dark team. Tony, Lynne, and Ed R. dropped back to provide some additional defense support, but the Dark team could not sustain an attack, with the White team claiming a 4-1 victory in another well-played and enjoyable match.
