A beautiful Saturday morning greeted Evendale FC members, as 16 players enjoyed a fun and balanced game of 8v8 soccer. Highlights included the long rumored return of Ed R. and Andy H., a welcome back for Tiz (who combined with Fritz for a couple of father-daughter attacking runs), a handful of "Arthur Joseph" moments, and even an OG header by the veritable Joe R. ... of course, Joe had a hat-trick the traditional way as well, including the posterization with Gus "the Sieve" Janszen between the pipes.The photo this week is the smiling faces of Emmie's Ohio Elite Academy Team, who won the Murray Cup in Indianapolis over the week, playing up in the U13 age group with other top regional U12 teams. Along the way, they defeated both the Indiana State Cup Champions 2008 (Carmel United) and the Ohio State Cup Champions 2008 (Ohio Premier Green), eeking out a victory in the championship in PKs (3-2). The team did not allow a single goal in regulation during the entire tournament.
Saturday mornings appear to present the best time/day to attract more members to the game. Our next match will be on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Evendale Recreation Field #3. Please post a comment indicating whether you are IN or OUT this week, and PLEASE BRING WHITE AND DARK SHIRTS.

ATJ is IN this week, but may need to leave early for coaching duties at 11:00 a.m. Let's try to get started as close to 9:00 a.m. as possible.
Brint is out, ankle is still in bad shape, and will probably be on the IR for a month at least. Michelle is out due to work.

Let's "beat the bushes" and try to get a better turnout this week ... call some of those Evendalians who have been "clamoring" to play, or just made some sort of half-hearted promise to show. It would be great to get our numbers back up to 18-20 players.
I'm a maybe. Preston has a t-ball game at 10. We'll see if I can squeeze it in.
