8/9 Match Recap ~ Next Match on Saturday, August 16 @ 9:00 a.m.

As the US Women's National Team advanced in the Olympic games, the Evendale FC convened its weekly match under near-perfect conditions ... sunny skies, a light breeze, and a freshly mowed and level pitch), with more than 22 players coming out for the game.

The Dark Team broke open the scoring on a nice give-and-go goal by Scott S., netting his first goal of the season. But the White team answered right back, as Two-Goal Dan and Dan Jr. pulled the White team level and then ahead on back-to-back header goals. Strong midfield play (by Abby and Dan) and defense (Katie and Tony) otherwise kept the scoring in check. The evenly-matched teams continued to trade attacking runs in the second half, only to be largely denied by Keepers Norm and Tom S. In the closing minutes of play, Vince M. found himself far post, in the right place at the right time, to finish strong for a Dark Team victory.
