Next Match ~ Friday, April 9, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m.

Great start to the 2010 season, with 12-14 players showing up last Saturday for a small-sided game. Youth was served as Kristen S., Zach J., and Emmie J. all found the back of the net, bolstered by strong defensive and midfield play by Ryan F. and older brother Dan.

We will play again tonight, April 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. on Field #3, and we will continue to play every Friday night through April and May. Please spread the word, as we need to rebuild our numbers to something closer to 18-22 players, and direct those new players here so that we can create a "roster" of sorts for the evening. There is definitely a "momentum" aspect to this, so PLEASE try to come here weekly and post a comment to indicate whether you are IN or OUT this week.

Finally, just a quick primer on the Playing Rules for Evendale FC:

1. No slide tackling of any kind.

2. No challenges from behind. You must be "goalside" of a player to attempt to dispossess the ball. It is ALWAYS more important to avoid injury to yourself and your opponent than prevent a score.

3. Use caution on 50/50 balls. It is ALWAYS more important to avoid an injury to yourself and your opponent than win possession of the ball.

4. Use caution to avoid collisions with the keeper (and keepers use caution as well).

There are dozens of competitive soccer leagues and games in the Greater Cincinnati area. This is not one of them. This is a recreational game played for exercise, fun, and the love of the game, and these rules still allow for plenty of fair "competition." Please use good judgment, have fun, and remember to bring WHITE and DARK shirts so that we can make even teams. Players wearing "team ambiguous" colors will play keeper ;)
