Terrific match this weekend, with more than 24 players in a balanced and well-played match. Kristen S. netted 3 goals for the white team, including a discounted one through The Sieve just before half. A mid-match trade added some youth, speed and creativity to the dark team, as Rocky sprayed balls into the flanks. But Norm was steady and impenetrable between the posts. The light rain and unseasonable cool weathers made for a perfect June match.
And I am officially invoking the "Golden Rule" from years of coaching youth soccer teams, when I would get calls and emails with weather-related concerns. Training was always "on" unless canceled. The same is true with our pickup match ...
The Game is ON unless canceled. So if you are sitting in bed around 8:00 a.m., looking at a light drizzle outside and wondering if we are still going to play the game, the answer is, "The game is ON unless canceled." And I am not afraid to send Steve B. after you to get you out of bed and on to the pitch!
Our next match will be Saturday, June 24, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., Field #2. I have heard from several players that they are going to be on vacation or otherwise schedule conflicted next week, so PLEASE BRING A LIKE-MINDED FRIEND to the match.
